Authorities are extending airport closures until midnight, citing shifting winds and the risk of volcanic ash to aviation. The eruptions have disrupted nearly 3,000 flights, including 622 international services, and affected about 341,000 passengers. Although tests at several airports found no volcanic ash, officials say operations would not resume until further assessments and updated aviation advisories were completed.
